I first reached out to Jessi in the beginning of June of 2016. I had been counting macros and lifting heavy for almost three years and felt like I was on a hamster wheel in terms of working toward some visible body progress and fat loss. My strength was certainly improving, but I was endlessly disappointed with the lack of change in my body composition. I have always had an “athletic” frame, which can sometimes be a bit frustrating when surrounded by size 2 girls during college. Having always been unhappy and uncomfortable in my own skin, I was always trying the next trendy workout and fad diet, hoping for something to give me the results I was hoping for. I eventually found great comfort and passion in weight training, and it became a hobby that my husband share.

After working with a few online coaches and feeling like I was doing endless cardio and living on poverty macros without any fat loss, I researched reverse dieting and found SoBoss on Instagram. After one telephone conversation with Jessi, I knew I had found a fit and the rest is really history. I worked with Jess for 19 weeks on increasing food intake and enjoying my strength increases in the gym. Reverse dieting improved my once terrible relationship with food and let me learn a lot about my body. I was eating things that I had restricted from my plate for YEARS! About halfway through my reverse, my husband (who was also in a reverse with his coach) and I started toying with the idea of competing in our first fitness competition in the Spring of 2017. After some back and forth and a few conversations with my coach, I decided that was my end game. I ended my reverse diet after 19 weeks to start a nice and slow 24 week bikini contest prep. In the 19 weeks of reversing, my weight would fluctuate between 2-4 lbs, but overall it remained pretty constant. I am now 10 weeks into my contest prep and am extremely excited to crush the goals I have set for this year. Being a part of Team SoBoss has been an experience that has not only improved my physical well-being, but more importantly my mental well-being and helped me find the balance I have been in search of for years.
