My passion for starting this journey began in late August, 2016. I noticed my weight creeping back up after I had lost 20 pounds with a diet of clean eating and cardio. It wasn’t until I took progress photos in August that I saw how much I had let myself go. Indulgences over the holidays and weekends full of wine bottles and cheat meals really added up. I was still exercising my normal amount (5 days cardio with light weights) thinking I could out-train this bad diet, and use cardio as a way to punish myself for overeating. I noticed it all starting to work against me, and that the more cardio I was doing, the more my joints hurt. The flab wasn’t going away. It was almost like my body was punishing me back.

Frustration set in, and even the thought of being 37 and knowing my metabolism wasn’t what it used to be when I was in my 20s came to mind and I almost used it as an excuse…almost.

I turned to Instagram one day for some inspiration. I was following a handful of fitness gals that raved about macro counting so I figured I should check it out. After talking to one of my fitness pals about how she got to where she is today, I decided to enlist the help of a recommended coach, Jessi Jean. After my initial consultation with her regarding what I was looking to do with my fitness, I felt comfortable enough to start a body fat loss program with her. I explained to her that I played a Division 1 sport in college and knew my way around the gym, but could never really piece together a workout that fit for me. She took all the guesswork out of it and actually made going to the gym enjoyable and comfortable.

I encourage anyone that is unhappy with their current fitness situation to give this a shot. I’m glad I did. I now have a reason for going to the gym rather than dreading it and looking at the clock every five minutes thinking, “I could probably skip out on my last set”. I also found balance between good clean foods and fun treats. I lost a total of 16lbs (my goal was 15lbs), going from 160 to 144 but gained so much knowledge from my weekly check-ins and FaceTime calls with the SoBoss coaches. They are such a pleasure to work with and clearly knows how to develop someone’s physique!
